Luthiery
The guitar to the right is the Widow Maker. I designed and built the first model as a senior in high school '81-'82. I later received my certificate in Luthiery (guitar construction & repair) from the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix AZ in early '83. In 1984 I moved to NYC and worked at Allex Music on 48th S., in the old Music Row area. There I had the opportunity to set up guitars for Al Demiola, James "Blood" Ulmer, GE Smith of the SNL Band, as well guitars being used accross the street at Right Track Studios for recordings by the Greatful Dead, Kiss as well as Forigners "Agent Provocateur" album.
I am currently conducting R&D for a new type of guitar that I have designed that will be made out of metal as well. It should be available by this fall, 2010.
Art
I love realistic art and it runs in the family. My grandmother, for example, had several blow-ups of old family photographs hanging on the walls of her home that had been there since I was a kid back in the 60's. It wasn't until the mid 90's that I found out that those old photos had rotted in the Florida humidity back in the early 70's, so she had done full size drawings of the old photo's before they fell apart and put the drawings into the frames of the old photo's. For more than 20 years I thought those drawings were still those old photographs, it was very impressive and very inspiring. I like to try and impress people with that type of artistic realism as she had impressed me.
